If this happens, try this

If I cover my ears or go very quiet —

I'm close to my limit. Let me step into the hall for five minutes. Don't ask me questions yet.

If the room is warm —

Tell me to take my jacket off. Don't ask me if I'm hot; I often don't notice.

If the schedule changes —

Tell me before you tell the class. Thirty seconds is enough.

If I won't start the worksheet —

I probably missed the first instruction. Say it once more, just to me, in short sentences.

If I say something blunt and someone's face falls —

I didn't mean it that way. Tell me privately how it landed and let me try again.
